In 2024, Austria reached a share of 94 percent renewable energy in electricity consumption, as shown by the EAG monitoring report from the regulatory authority E-Control in Vienna. Despite a slight increase in consumption, gross electricity generation, including pumped storage, also rose significantly. E-Control board member Alfons Haber stated that the competitive situation in the electricity market had improved after the energy crisis.
