On January 25, 2026, the municipal council election will take place in St. Pölten. The city senate will officially set the date next Monday. There is no direct election for the mayor. Matthias Stadler is once again running as the top candidate for the SPÖ. He has been the city leader since July 9, 2004, and will turn 60 on February 9.
